Matthew Merrett
http://www.thephotomat.ca/
This photographer mainly focusses on decay and abandonment which relates to my chosen topic of evidence. Dull lighting is commonly use in his work, which emphasises the desertedness of the scenes. Texture is also very clear in a lot of his work such as peeling walls or dirt. Somethng which is not emphasised so much in Matthew Merrett's photography is colour, however this adds eeriness to the photos which changes the overall feel. I quite like the photography of Matthew Merret, however I find some of it lacks variety.
Jim Reed
Jim Reed photographs extreme weather conditions. Colour is an important feature in a lot of his photography. You can see a lot of contrasting tones which add interest to the images. Something else I noticed about Jim Reeds weather photography is there is a variety of colours of the sky amongst separate pictures. If I were to take similar pictures to these I cold make a multiple image showing the different colours of the sky or the different types of extreme weather.
Walter Arnold
http://walterarnold.photoshelter.com/about/
Walter Arnold's photography is slightly varied. Although he does mostly abandonment photography, he also takes portraits, landscapes and wedding photos. These two images are from his abandonment work. Texture is very clear in his work, for example the peeling walls in the bottom image. Dull lighting is used which emphasizes the deserted scene, and shadow is also very clear which shows form. Walter's abandonment photography is the only part I find interesting.
Art Wolfe
http://artwolfe.com/
Art Wolfe mostly photographs wildlife, landscapes and native cultures. He uses blurring in some of his work which is evidence of movement. These two images are examples of this. The outcome is quite effective and makes it clearer that the object is moving, however it means certain details cannot be see clearly in the pictures. Although I like the movement photographs that this photographer takes, only a few of them use this blurring effect, so his work does not relate much to the theme of evidence.
Boone Speed
http://www.boonespeed.com/
This photographers work shows evidence of adventure. Colour is shown quite a lot in his photos which emphasizes the positive overall feel of the images. Texture is also emphasized a lot in these pictures for example in the walls of the images above which consist of a variety of different tones. I like how the type of shot is varied throughout his work for example the picture at the top is a close up whereas the bottom picture a very extreme close up, so that only the the contrasting shape of the person can be seen. Although Boone Speed is a skilled photographer, his photos lack variation.
Nicholas Goodden
http://www.nicholasgooddenphotography.co.uk/london-street-art-and-graffiti-photography/
This photographer focuses on London street art and graffiti. As I am a fan of street art these images appealed to me straight away. A lot of colour is visible in some of Nicholas's photography as the art contrasts greatly against the average, dull surroundings. On the other hand some of his photos like these two have been edited black and white which also works quite effectively. A lot of shape is also clear in the art. I quite like Nicholas Goodden's photography due to the content, colours and editing.
Nils Mueller
http://www.nilsmuellerphotography.com/
The work of this photographer is varied but some of it relates to evidence, like these two images for example. I quite like how in both situations the faces are not shown as this adds a sense of mystery to the image. A lot of dark lighting is used which emphasises the fact that the vandals are gong out at night. I find it interesting how some of the images relate to each other and create a sequence. I quite like some of Nil Mueller's photography, but most of it I am not interested in.
Jonathan Knowles
http://jknowles.co.uk/
Jonathan does a lot of beauty and advertisement photography, but some of his work relates to evidence, like these two images. I like the way the backgrounds are very plain so that we are focussing on the object in the frame. I could achieve something similar to this using the studio and bright lighting. Although Jonathan's photography shows unique and interesting examples of evidence, most of his work is for advertisement.
Mike Olbinski
http://gallery.mikeolbinski.com
Mike shoots a lot of landscapes, portraits and weather but he also has a section on his website named 'lost things' which is my favourite part of his site, and relates well to evidence. These two images are from this section. I really like the use of lighting and colour in his work, as well as the depth he commonly shows by blurring.
Philip Klinger
http://philip-klinger.photography
Philip focusses on landscape and shoots a large variation of weather. He also uses long exposure in his shots like in the bottom image. This is unique and effective and something I would quite like to try in a future shoot but maybe using light. I also like the soft colours he uses. Despite this a lot of his images are similar as there is not much variation in the topics he shoots.
Aneta Ivanova
http://anetaivanova.com
This photography stood out for me, as it is very unique and requires a lot of editing. The silhouette is filled with a landscape like a forest or sea. We cannot see the facial features which creates a sense of mystery and makes the photography more abstract, as the facial features are usually what is focussed on most in portraits. I really like the idea of photomontage like this and would like to try something similar in a future shoot.
Erik Johansson
http://erikjohanssonphoto.com
Erik focusses on photomontage and I find his photography very abstract and interesting as he makes it look so realistic. His work is also very varied, and I like the lighting in his images and the use of colour. I would like to try something similar to his work just as experimentation and to produce more varied images.
Bruce Wayne
http://www.bruce-wayne-photography.com
This photographer mainly focuses on landscape photography. Something I like about his work is the level of depth in his pictures. Something else I like about this photographer is that his work is quite varied, as he has a gallery of long exposure images. I find long exposure photography quite interesting and appealing so this caught my eye. He also takes portraits which show tone and form.
Eric Staller
http://ericstaller.com/studio%20work/light%20drawings/
I find Eric Staller's photography very fascinating and unique. He specialists in light painting photography which is achievable by using a long exposure technique. A lot of the time the source of light and people conducting it are not visible, which for me creates enigmas and keeps me interested. Eric's images include vivid colours and contrast, as well as depth.
Micheal Bosanko
http://www.michaelbosanko.com
This photographers work is very unique. Something which I think makes it stand out from the work of other light painting photographers is the fact that Micheal creates real objects, characters or words with light, rather than random shapes or lines. I also like the way he makes the characters or objects look as though they are actually interacting with the location, to create a scene. The way that he takes his light painting images in secluded locations makes the photos seem more magical. Colour and contrast is shown clearly in his work as the vivid light contrast against the night backgrounds.
James Grundy
http://www.james-grundy.com/#home
James' photography is black and white, which allows highlights, shadows, tones, form and contrast to be clearly shown. I mostly like James' gallery of images named 'salad days', which these two images are from. These images establish different aspects of youth, and I enjoy them as I find I can relate to them, being a young individual. As well as this, James also does a lot of street photography which I really enjoy myself.
Markus Hartel
http://www.markushartel.com/
This is a photographer who focuses on street photography, mainly in New York where he lives. As I am a fan of street photography, this photographer's work immediately caught my eye. A large amount of his photography is black and white, which allows tones, form and contrast to be seen clearly. He also takes a some double exposure and time lapse photography which I find interesting and abstract. In some of his coloured street photography, the saturation is lowered so that pictures are quite dull. This works effectively as it shows contrast but also changes the mood of the image.
